Pioneer Homes

Pioneers were very careful about choosing a place to build their homes. They had to have water nearby for drinking and cooking. They also needed many trees around. These were used for building the home and for making fires. The other thing they needed was good soil to grow food.

When the pioneers built a home, they put the walls up first. They cut logs and made slots so they would fit together. Then, they set one log on top of another to make a wall. The roof went last. It was made of big pieces called "clapboard." Then, they covered the roof with bark from the trees.

Use the proofreading marks to correct the mistakes in the paragraph below. Then, write the misspelled list words correctly on the lines.

In the early 1600s, Galilieo Galilei turned a new invention the telescope, upon the night sky, and a great advancment was made in the science of astromony. Galileo was the first scientist to view alein worlds in more detail than w
possible as with the naked eye. He saw that the moon's surface was not smooth, but that it had what looked like mountains. Even more important, he discovered approximatley four small bodies orbiting around the planet Jupiter. Galileo's discovery destroyed the bases for the belief that all bodies in the solar system revolved around Earth.

I just corrected the mistakes when I typed that and left some words still mistyped. ;)

Pelorus Jack is a famous Risso's dolphin who helped sailors. The sailors spotted him in1888. He was approximately thirteen feet long, he was of a white color with gray lines and shadings. Then he had a round, white head so he was recognizable by the sailors.

How he helped the sailors was pretty interesting. He guided ships through the dangerous passages of the French Pass. The French Pass was very rocky and there were dangerous currents and with Pelorus Jack's help no ships ever crashed. Soon he became locally famous and he was shown in postcards and newspapers. Pelorus Jack disappeared in April of 1912, people thought he just died of old age because of his light coloring.

The queen ant is the most important ant of all of them. But that's only because she lays the eggs to make the colony bigger so they can survive more easily.

The worker ants are always very busy. They have to care for eggs and young ants. The worker ants need to gather food for the colony. If the nest gets destroyed repairing the nest is another part of their job.

Strange Bicycles

The largest bicycle was built in 1873. It was seventy-two feet long, wow is that true? This bicycle had thirty-four seats! I've never heard of that bike it's amazingly huge.

The smallest bicycle was VERY small. It weighed 2 pounds. This bike was only as long a a man's hand, that's not very wide at all. The wheels were only two inches across from each other. This bicycle could actually be ridden by a man, that seems impossible. . . I don't even know if it's true!

WRITING AN OUTLINE AND A REPORT

Pets

I. Good things about having pets
A. Fun
B. Playful
C. Cool
II. Bad things about having pets
A. responsibility
B. smelly
C. ultimate care, you have to keep your eye on it a lot.

Pets

There are many good things about pets, here are a few examples:
Pets are fun! Many of them love people, especially dogs, they're great pets, but I'd prefer horses of course. Most pets are playful too! Hamsters, puppies, kittens, foals, etc. Are very playful; the younger the more playful! Pets are cool, everyone loves to have pets!

Read this before you ever consider buying a pet if you don't have one. There are bad things about pet's too. Number one, they are a LOT of responsibility, you have to be sure to feed it two to three times a day, clean up it's waste and so on. They also can be smelly so you have to give your pets tons of baths so they don't stink up the house. Then that all leads up to ultimate care, you have to keep an eye on your pet to see if it's not being bad, you may have to train it if you buy it young, you might want a doggy door of kitty door so you don't have to keep opening the door for dogs and cats.

It was hard to think!! Dx

The Aardvark

Aardvarks are the size of a hog. They have long, pig-like snouts. They have thick, gray-brown hair. They have long ears, like a rabbit. Sharp claws, like a tiger. Then they have a long, sticky tongue, like an ant-eater.

How the Aardvark lives is much different than how people live. They dig and sleep in a cozy little burrow. Aardvarks hunt at night. Aardvarks are much like ant-eaters, they eat ants and termites. Aardvarks are mean little things, they rip open nests with sharp claws!

Perseus Story Thing

I read this little story in the mythological book and then I watched some video (It was really cheesy!). There was a few differences because Pegasus came out of Medusa's blood not before, but that's all that I can tell that's different besides Perseus meeting Andromeda before he saved her from the Cracken. You probably don't even know what I'm talking about.

STRAWBERRY IZZZ BACK!!!!!!

Yay!! Strawberry's back! I'm sure you all missed her a lot.

NO STRAWBERRIES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS POST.

Oh, and remember.. this gets to be colorful!! :D

Strawberry: Oh, come on! It will be fun.
Starry: OH PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE?!?!?
Bailey: It will be fun to tell it to you.
Starlight: But.. but...
Starry: But stories are awesome! Okay, start the story, Bailey.
Bailey: But wait! Starlight's thinking about it, she's to impatient to wait for too long.
Starry: Oh, alright.

2 HOURS LATER

Strawberry and Starry are playing a BOARD game.

Starlight: All right! I've made up my mind!
Strawberry: It's about time.
Starlight: STORY! STORY! STORY!
Bailey: Okay, okay. Shall I start?
Starry: Yes, please.
Bailey: Okay, here we go.

STRAWBERRY AND STARRY MEET STARLIGHT

Strawberry nibbled on the grass as a new horse was brought to the barn.

"New horse today!" exclaimed Starry.

"Oh wow, we haven't had a new horse in a while, besides the foals from last spring," said Strawberry.

"Maybe she'll be in the stall next to me! Then I'll get to know her!"

"Possibly," said Strawberry, "But who knows, maybe she'll be in the same pasture as us considering that's she's being led in our direction!"

"But then her stall must be near us since we're across from each other and we're in the same pasture."

"She looks like a filly to me, remember that we're in the mares stable."

"True, well she will still be in the same pasture."

"Yep, oh look she's in with us, let's go and welcome her," suggested Strawberry.

"Okay," replied Starry.

"Hey there, what's your name?" asked Starry.

"H.. h.. hi, my names Starlight." replied Starlight.

"Oi, Starlight. I'm Starry."

Eros Psyche Story (told in different point of view)

This is going to be awfully hard. I pretty much have to make it up!! A story from my Greek Mythology book. This is in Aphrodite's point of view. She's the easiest because she plays one of the big parts. lol

Once there was a King and Queen who had three daughters but everyone thought Psyche was the most beautiful of all of them. And everyone thought she was Aphrodite in her mortal form. After she was born everyone stopped worshiping Aphrodite and started worshiping Psyche. Which made Aphrodite SO angry that she obviously was thought not to be the most beautiful women anymore.

Aphrodite was completely ignored, she had Eros, her son. To use his bow and arrows to make Psyche fall in love with the lowest, uglyest, most terrible mortal on Earth. Meanwhile, Psyche's parents were consulting the Delphic oracle for help all he said was "Place the girl on a high cliff dressed for her funeral. Your son-in-law will not be human."

Aphrodite waited for Psyche to climb upon the cliff, Eros was in a canyon near the cliff to strike Psyche with his bow and arrow. She watched as Psyche was carried by Zephyr, the west wind. Aphrodite turned away to tend to her duties, she knew that Psyche was already going to get struck, and she would regret her beauty and everyone would worship Aphrodite again.

Aphrodite hadn't seen her son in months soon she figures out that Psyche nearly killed her son thinking that he was a monster! Aphrodite's anger already rose to boiling, Eros struck himself with an arrow by accident and he fell in love with Psyche!! Soon Psyche comes to her and says she wants Eros back but Eros was sick and Aphrodite decided she could get rid of her by sending her to the river bank where the sheep with golden wool were grazing at. "Give me the golden wool from the sheep as part of your punishment." Aphrodite commanded. Psyche did it all wrong, she had help, so Aphrodite threw her a dry crust of bread as her dinner.

The nest task was to fill a jar with water from a stream in the Underworld. Instead she got help from Zeus's eagle and she had Psyche do another task for her.

Aphrodite gave Psyche to go down to the underworld and fill a box from Persephone for some beauty. Psyche went to Persephone and but the beauty in the box and told Psyche not to open it, but she did and and she joins the Underworld, in a deep sleep forever.

Now, Eros has recovered from his wound. Longing to see Psyche again, he flew out with his fully refreshed wings and found Psyche and revived her, then he brought her to Zeus to ask if he can marry her, then he confronts with his mother, who eventually gave in. Then, Aphrodite had a granddaughter named Pleasure.
