Starlight
One day Starlight was walking around in her pasture. It was a hot, sunny day and she went over to the water trough. As she came up she noticed another horse walking up there too. "What a surprise," thought Starlight. "That's the horse who is always away from the others, especially Starlight. He was a rare color: Black. ALWAYS away from Starlight. She never knew why he was so shy and always neighed to stay back when she came near. "What's his problem today?" she thought.
"Hi," said Starlight.
"Uhh... Hi?" said the unknown horse. Starlight has heard this strange voice before.
"What's up?
"Why are you wondering, Star?"
Starlight didn't say anything. HE KNOWS MY NAME. She kept thinking that over and over again. HOW DOES HE KNOW I LIKE TO BE CALLED STAR! Someone could've told him anyone. How else could he know?
"Umm, I've got to go somewhere else, I'll be seein' ya'," Starlight said nervously.
The gelding looked away and finished drinking out of the trough and Starlight walked away.
Later on Starlight went into her stall and lied down as usual, she never knew which horses were nearby. Besides she only knew there names when she went past their stalls but she never knew them because she was the youngest horse yet she was with older horses.
"Oh, It's you Star! I remember meeting you!
Starlight stood up in a matter of seconds.
"H.. H.. How d.. d.. d... do you know m... m.. my n.. n.. n.. name," Starlight stammered.
"It's on the front of your stall, silly."
"Oh"
"How could I be so stupid," thought Starlight. But Starlight was too foolish not to notice that on her stall was just her full name, not her nickname.
"Errr, why do you call me Star?" asked Starlight.
"Your mother said that you liked to be called Star." replied the gelding.
"Oh..." said Starry.
